When I first heard about the title of our today's book, I thought to myself 'wow, that's an interesting combo'. After reading the book it's looks like there isn't nothing more natural in the world than a friendship of a ninja, cowboy and a bear.Yes, the book we review today is "The Legend of Ninja Cowboy Bear" by David Bruins (author) and Hilary Leung (illustrator).
Firstly, few words on our collaboration with the author, David Bruins. As you can see from the photo of the cover of the book to your right, our logo is part of the cover, which means that for every copy printed of "The Legend of Ninja Cowboy Bear", a tree is planted with Eco-Libris. The book by the way is printed with vegetable-based ink on 30% recycled paper, by a FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified printer.
And now to the story. "The Legend of Ninja Cowboy Bear" is an illustrated children's story described as "a story about three friends (a ninja, a cowboy and a bear) who discover an important truth about equality, diversity and how to appreciate one another's unique traits".
I found it a great story about friendship and the way different characters can be friends. I believe the use of ninja, bear and a cowboy as the characters actually help kids to understand the way the idea behind the story and to identify with the way they act within the story.
The story has many lessons for kids and first and foremost is the idea that diversity is a good thing and can benefit us all if we approach it positively and from with the right approach.
This is all heavy stuff especially for kids and therefore it's a pleasure to see the way David Bruins and Hilary Leung are handling it and making this a fun story. The beautiful pictures of Leung together with Bruins' prose work together to capture children's attention, spark their imagination, and put a smile on their face.The book also invites you (even if you're a grown up) to play the game Ninja Cowboy Bear, which is similar to to one you probably already know - rock, papers, scissors. The big difference is how you play it.. You can also play it online via the book's website.

Work with my suppliers to eliminate unnecessary packaging from products purchased from them. Require any supplier that says tehy are "Green" to prove it!

I heard a rumor that more efficient curbside recycling will be available in our town so we will be doing MUCH more recycling, thank goodness.

My mom and I are planning to expand the compost corner of our farm, and start collecting kitchen and yard scraps from my mom's city-dwelling non-composting coworkers. As an added incentive, they will get fresh veggies from our big garden if they fill our buckets and bring them to work every week instead of throwing all those valuable bits in the garbage!

I'm finally going to take all my plastic grocery bags that I've been saving to the recycling center, and starting in 2009 only use reusable canvas grocery bags.
I teach kindergarten. It's never too early to instill in my students the advantages of being green! I vow to show them every day by...using as few paper towels as possible - carrying my galls to the lunchroom instead of using the styrofoam cups etc.
No more plastic bags when I go out shopping and am going to compost and use in my garden!

2008 was my first year of trying to go green. I switch all of our lightbulbs and started using tote bags for the grocery store. This year I am going to check into purchasing a hybrid vehicle. We are in need of a new car and hubby and I decided to go as green as possible with it.

I received reusable shopping bags for Christmas - with a carabiner to hold them together in my car and hooked to the grocery cart.
There is something magical in planting a seed. Nourish it with water, sunlight and love and this seed grows into something earthy, delectable and delicious! That's why I am so inspired in 2009 to plant more fruits, veggies, plants, trees and flowers in my garden and inspire other beings in my community to do the same whether it's in their backyard or a community garden (http://communitygarden.org/index.php). I can only imagine more joy, peace, beauty and cleaner air with so many seeds coming to fruition in this world and wouldn't that make for such an amazingly eco~friendly 2009! : )))

i resolve to reuse grocery bags by keeping a few stocked in my vehicle so i won't forget when i go to the store!
I'm working on recycling even more. We already do a lot, but our area just added a bunch of things. Now working on the habit of recycling those new to us items!

i bought reusable grocery bags for myself, mom and sisters this Christmas, and We're also in the process of switching all of our cleaning products to eco-friendly versions.
I am going to collect Christmas Trees, and take them where they will put them in a chipper and make chips for the nearby School playgrounds.
