The United Nations has declared 2011 as the International Year of the
And that's not everything - this is an educational program that strives to get students involved. Inside each book there will be a Tree Card. This card has an individual identification number. The students will be asked to register on the website www.piantaunlibro.it and Eco-Libris will plant a tree for each number once registered. ELI is expecting to plant 40,000 trees with Eco-Libris in 2011!
Our collaboration with ELI has already resulted in new trees that are being planted in Guatemala by our planting partner AIR, when ELI planted 5000 trees for another educational series they publish - the the new graded readers series which is also printed on FSC-certified paper.
ELI Publishing is a truly green publisher, who is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and strives to become more environmentally responsible. They're not stopping with planting trees and all of their new books will be printed on FSC-certified paper. Not to mention the fact that they want to educate young students and encourage them to adopt sustainable practices by giving them an example and providing them information to increase their awareness to the need in change.
You're welcome to check out the new website that ELI lauchned for the 'Plant a Book' program - www.piantaunlibro.it (it's in Italian, so you might need the good services of Google Translate).
Yours,
Raz @ Eco-Libris
